Take a large onion. Slice it vertically.
Add 2 teaspoons of red chili powder, ¼th teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of carom seeds and salt to taste.
Mix it well with help of a spoon.
Add 5 tablespoons of gram flour and 2 tablespoons of rice flour in it.
Mix it well. Add water in small parts and make the mixture for pakodas.
Heat oil in a kadhai for deep frying the pakoras.
Add a pinch of baking soda in a pakoras mixture before frying pakoras and mix it well.
Now drop medium-sized pakoras in oil with help of a spoon. Keep flame low while dropping pakodas in oil.
Fry the pakodas on a medium flame until they become crispy and golden from both sides.
Serve hot pakodas with tea or tomato sauce.
