French fries are one of the all-time favorite snacks in all age groups. Whenever we order a burger, we always have the temptation of crispy & salty French fries. There are many snacks made up of potatoes, but French fries are very famous and tempting in it. Most of us order these fries from outside because making them at home results in soft and oily fries many times. So, here is the easy recipe for perfect and crispy french fries or finger chips.
Before making fries, we should know some tips to make them crispy and perfect. As the important ingredient of this recipe is potato, if potato finger chips have more starch before frying, then the fries become soft. So, we have to remove the starch from the potatoes as much as possible before frying the fries.
The second important tip to make crispy fries is the frying process. We have to fry potato finger chips two times at different temperatures. After removing starch from potato slices, we have to fry them on low- medium flame. Again we will fry them on medium-high flame. Before frying the fries on high flame they should be completely cold. So, let’s start with a homemade, perfect, and crispy French fries recipe.
French Fries Recipe | Crispy Finger Chips

- 2 Potatoes Large
- Oil for deep frying
- Salt to taste
Instructions
Peel and cut the potatoes:
- Wash and peel potatoes. If you take a small potato for making french fries will be small in size. So, take large potatoes.
- Now make slices of potatoes that are around 1 cm thick, while making slices considered the largest side of the potato.
- Take a slice of potato and cut it into around 1 cm thick pieces. Cut all the slices like this.
- After the slices are ready wash them a couple of times with water.
- Take the water in a bowl and add half a tablespoon of salt to it. Add potato slices to this water and refrigerate them for 30 minutes to remove extra starch from the potatoes. You can skip this soaking process if you want.
- Now strain the water from potato slices using a strainer and wash the slices under running water for a minute.
- Spread the potato slices on a kitchen towel and pat dry them. Make them dry properly before frying.
Frying french fries:
- Heat the oil in a pan for deep frying french fries. Heat it on medium flame. oil should not be very hot.
- Make small batches of potato slices according to the size of the pan. add the first batch of potato slices to a pan and Fry them on medium-low flame uniformly to cook potatoes. The color of potato slices should not change at the stage while frying.
- Transfer these half-fried french fries to the plate and similarly fry the remaining batches. Let them cool completely.
- Now reheat the oil on a high flame. This time we will fry potato slices on Medium High flame.
- Once the oil is ready. Add cold and half-fried slices to a pan in batches and fry them on medium-high flame until they become Golden in color and crispy.
- Transfer the fried french fries to a tissue to soak excess oil. Fry all the batches in a similar way.
- Now take fried french fries in a bowl, add half a tablespoon of salt in it, and toss them to mix the salt uniformly.
- Serve the hot french fries with tomato sauce.
