Gobi biryani or cauliflower rice is a simple Indian rice recipe. It is an easy one-pot recipe, prepared with cauliflower, spices, herbs and basmati rice. For making cauliflower biryani, we use basmati rice, which is also known as biryani rice. It is non-sticky and gives perfect flavor to the biryani. The amount of water required to cook rice depends on which rice you are using.
Cauliflower biryani is the best meal option for lunch or dinner. We can make biryani in a pot or in a pressure cooker. I am sharing the recipe for cauliflower biryani in a pressure cooker in this post.

Gobi Pulav | Cauliflower Biryani
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 teaspoons crushed garlic
- 1 onion
- 1 tomato
- 2 teaspoons red chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon chicken masala [optional]
- 3-4 cashews
- 2 cups chopped cauliflower
- handful coriander leaves
- 1 cup basmati rice
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds and 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds to it.
- Once they start crackling, add 2 teaspoons of finely chopped garlic and chopped onion to it.
- Saute it until the onion becomes translucent. Then add chopped tomato to it.
- Mix it well and cook it until the tomato becomes mushy. Then add 2 teaspoons of red chili powder, 1 teaspoon of garam masala, 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1 teaspoon of chicken masala or any other masala of your choice into it.
- Mix it well and saute it for a minute. Also, add 3-4 cashew pieces to it.
- Then add chopped cauliflower to it. Sauté it for 2-3 minutes on medium flame. To clean the cauliflower properly boil it in water for a couple of minutes before using.
- Wash the basmati rice under running water and add it to a pan. Mix well.
- Now add 3 cups of hot water and salt to it and mix well.
- Also, add chopped coriander leaves and cook the cauliflower rice on low flame until the water gets absorbed.
- Turn off the flame and serve hot cauliflower pulav with cucumber-beetroot salad.
How To Make Cauliflower Biryani At Home:
