Peas rice or peas pulao is an Indian rice recipe with aromatic spices. It is a simple, quick and tasty rice recipe. We can make peas pulao in a pot or pressure cooker. To make peas pulao, we have to sauté peas with spices. And, then we have to add basmati rice and water to it.
Sautéing spices until their aroma absorbs in the recipe is important. We are using green cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and peppercorns in spices, also add bay leaf and star anise if available. Also, we are using green chilies to add some spice to the dish.

Peas Rice | Peas Pulao
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 green cardamom
- 3-4 cloves
- 3-4 peppercorns
- 2 inch cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon crushed garlic
- 2-3 green chilies
- 1 onion
- 1 cup peas
- salt to taste
- 3/4 cup basmati rice
Instructions
- Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in a pan. Once ghee melted add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, 2 green cardamom, 3-4 cloves, 3-4 peppercorns and cinnamon to it.
- Sauté all the whole spices for 2-3 minutes. Then add a tablespoon of crushed garlic, 2-3 chopped green chilies and 1 large chopped onion to it. Sauté it until the onion becomes translucent.
- Now add peas to it. Also, add salt and sauté it for 4-5 minutes on medium flame.
- Then, take 3/4 cup of basmati rice in a colander. Wash it under running water and add it to the same pan. Mix well and cook it for a minute.
- Now, add 2 cups of water to it and mix well. Once the water starts boiling, cook it on low-medium flame for 10-12 minutes.
- Once the rice is cooked completely. Serve homemade peas pulao or peas rice with cucumber salad.
