- 1 cup Vermicelli
- ½ tablespoon Peanut
- ½ tablespoon Cashew slices
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 3 green chilies
- 1 Onion
- 1 Tomato
- ¼ teaspoon Turmeric
- Handful of coriander
- Salt to taste
- Oil
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan and add vermicelli to it. Roast them on low flame until they turn light brown in a colour. You can also buy a packet of roasted vermicelli.
- Transfer roasted vermicelli to a plate. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan.
- Add peanuts and cashew slices to it.
- Fry it for 1 minute. Add cumin seeds, chopped green chilies, chopped onion and salt to taste in it. Saute for 2 minutes.
- Once the onion turns light pink, add chopped tomato and a ¼th teaspoon of turmeric to it. Mix well and cook it for a minute.
- Now, add 2 cups of water to it. Let it boil on a high flame. Once the water starts boiling, turn the flame to low and add roasted vermicelli to it.
- Add chopped coriander to it. Mix well and let it cook until the water gets absorbed by vermicelli.
- Serve hot vermicelli upma.
