Masala dosa is a famous south Indian dish. It is a good breakfast item. Masala dosa is nothing but a crispy dosa with potato masala filling inside it. Mostly masala dosa is served hot with coconut chutney and sambar.

Masala dosa is a famous south Indian dish. It is a good breakfast item. Masala dosa is nothing but a crispy dosa with potato masala filling inside it. Mostly masala dosa is served hot with coconut chutney and sambar.

Ingredients
  

For batter:

  • 1 cup Rice
  • ½ cup Urad dal
  • 4-5 Methi seeds [optional]
  • Salt to taste

For potato masala:

  • 2 Potatoes
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Mustards seeds
  • 3-4 Garlic cloves
  • 3-4 Curry leaves
  • 2-3 Green chilies
  • 1 Onion
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Handful of coriander.

Instructions
 

Soaking Dal And Rice :

  • Take rice and methi seeds in a bowl. Wash it 2-3 times and soak in water for 8 hours or a whole day.
  • In another bowl, take urad dal, wash it 2-3 times with water and soak for 8 hours or a whole day.

How To Make Dosa Batter:

  • Drain water from rice and dal.
  • Add rice and methi seeds in a grinder jar with ¼ cup of water. Grind it in smooth paste and transfer in a large bowl.
  • Add dal in a grinder jar with little water and grind it in a smooth paste. Transfer it to the same bowl.
  • Mix ground dal and rice with the ladle and let it ferment for 8 hours (overnight).
  • After fermentation Batter will increase in volume.
  • Add salt and water to the batter. Mix well.

Masala For Masala Dosa:

  • Add 1 glass of water and potatoes to the pressure cooker. Close the lid and take 7-8 whistles on high flame.
  • When steam comes out automatically, open the lid. Take out potatoes and let them cool for some time. Now peel the potatoes and chop them into medium pieces.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in the pan. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds to it. When cumin and mustard seeds start crackling, add 3 curry leaves, chopped garlic and green chilies in it.
  • When curry leaves turns crispy. Add chopped onion to it. Mix well and cook it until the onion turns light pink.
  • Also add turmeric powder and salt to taste in it.
  • Add chopped potatoes in it and mix well.
  • Cover it with a lid. And cook for 5 minutes.
  • Now add finely chopped coriander on it and mix well.
  • Masala is ready.

How To Make Masala Dosa:

  • Heat the pan. Turn flame to low and add 1 tablespoon of oil to pan.
  • Pour a ladle full of dosa batter on the pan and spread it using ladle quickly.
  • Cook dosa on medium flame, add little oil around the dosa edges and on the dosa.
  • Once the base of the dosa turns in golden, add potato masala to the middle of the dosa and roll it from both sides.
  • Masala dosa is ready. Serve hot masala dosa with coconut chutney or sambar.

How To Make Masala Dosa

How To Make Masala Dosa:
