Sev puri is a famous Mumbai street-style chaat recipe, which is also known as sev batata puri. Sev puri is a quick, easy and delicious snack recipe. Sev puri is made by layering onion, tomato, boiled potato, chaat chutneys and sev on the flat puri.

Ingredients
  

  • 20 papdi [flat crispy puri]
  • 2 potatoes [boiled]
  • 1 large onion [finely chopped]
  • 1 tomato [finely chopped]
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 3-4 tablespoons sweet chutney [tamarind & dates chutney]
  • 3-4 tablespoons green chutney [mint & chili chutney]
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup nylon sev
  • Handful coriander leaves

Instructions
 

  • Boil 2 medium-sized potatoes. Peel and cut them into medium-sized pieces. Now, add 1 teaspoon of red chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and salt to it.
  • Mix and mash them slightly. Keep it aside.
  • Now take a serving plate and arrange flat puris in it according to the size of a plate.
  • Add spiced potato mixture on it by pressing it slightly.
  • Now add finely chopped onion to each puri.
  • After onion, add finely chopped tomato to each puri and sprinkle some chaat masala on it.
  • Now, add sweet chutney to each puri. Sweet chutney is made with tamarind pulp and dates.
  • Add green spicy chutney after sweet chutney. To make green chutney, grind green chilies, coriander and mint leaves together by adding a little water.
  • Lastly add ample nylon sev on each puri.
  • Garnish homemade sev puri with coriander leaves and serve immediately.
